April 4th, 2007--Delegate Dave Marsden returns to Richmond for the Reconvened Session of the 2007 General Assembly

Delegate Marsden will be returning to Richmond on April 4th to cast votes on Governor Tim Kaine's amendments to and vetoes of legislation passed by the 2007 General Assembly.  Among the many important measures Governor Kaine introduced were improvements to the transportation plan and amendments to ban smoking in Virginia's bars and restaurants.  Check back to see whether these important amendments were upheld.

March 23rd, 2007--Delegate Marsden Kicks Off his Re-election Campaign!

Delegate Marsden was proud to be joined by over 100 friends, neighbors, supporters and fellow elected officials.  The kick off was held at the home of Susan and Steve Frei, constituents and supporters of Delegate Marsden who live in Parkway precinct.  Among the attendees were House Caucus Chairman Brian Moran, pictured at left with Dave. 

 

February 20th, 2007--Delegate Dave Marsden and his wife, Julia Marsden , host Constituents for tours of local museums, Governor's Mansion

Delegate Marsden and Mrs. Marsden were joined by constituents from Burke and Springfield on Tuesday, February 20th.  Special tours were given of the Valentine Museum, the John Marshall House and the Governor's Mansion.  First Lady Anne Holton greeted the constituents and visited with them.  Mrs. Marsden said, "I hope even more consituents are able to join us next year so that people from back home can appreciate the beauty and history of Richmond as much as Dave and I do."

January 2007--Delegate Marsden writes his first edition of his weekly column for the Burke Connection:

On Thursday, January 11th, Delegate Marsden's first weekly column was published in the Burke Connection.  He wrote about our transportation crisis and his hopes and goals for transportation during this year's General Assembly Session.  You can read Delegate Marsden's opinion pieces in the Burke Connection each week here.

January 10, 2007-- General Assembly Session Convenes; Delegate Marsden introduces 16 bills and three budget amendments:

Delegate Marsden introduced several pieces of legislation important to the lives of his constituents, our teachers, children in the juvenile justice system, youth at risk of joining gangs, and the environment, amongst others.  Check back after the session to see how Dave did or visit this link to view his legislation and monitor its progress.

November 10, 2006 -- Delegate Marsden Awarded the Robert H. Sutton Humanitarian Award

Delegate Dave Marsden was presented with the 2006 Robert H. Sutton Humanitarian Award, "recognizing a lifetime contribution to the development of juvenile justice and a career of exemplary leadership" at the Annual meeting of the Virginia Juvenile Justice Association (VJJA), of which he is a past President.

Delegate Marsden was honored by the recognition of his fellow juvenile justice professionals, only the third time in its 18 years of existence that the award has been given.  "All these years my only goal has been to improve the lives of these kids.  It means so much to me that my colleagues have recognized those efforts and their acknowledgement means I must have been doing something right all these years."

May 2006--Delegate Dave Marsden joins Governor Kaine as the Governor signs one of Delegate Marsden's pieces of legislation into law

Delegate Marsden was proud to introduce a measure allowing juvenile probation officers to share specific, gang-related intelligence with police officers.  Delegate Marsden said, "This bill will make our communities safer and I am pleased that I was able to pass it through the General Assembly this session."
